Equirectangular is the best.
Anything over 8192x4096 will be scaled down. (4096x2048 on older devices)

- Usage info:

* The ideal image for iPano is an equirectangular image that is 8192x4096 pixels (4096x2048 on older devices).

* Double tap to bring up the menu. -- There you can access the pan/tilt/roll settings, and choose a source for a new panoramic image. The different sources are icons across the top of the screen. Starting from the left,
your Pano Library (top left book icon),
the devices Photo Library (middle sunflower icon),
the Paste button will paste from the clipboard,
the http:// page allows you to enter a URL to download and save to your iPano Library.
